The committee draws members from field participants and Council members.

Nominations

Identifies terms for Council members and new Council members to rotate on and when to rotate off. Helps to identify candidates for officer positions.

Networking

Expanding the NPEN membership base and connecting effectively with the membership.

Professional Recognition

Determine NPEN role in credentialing. Gather information and compare to NPEN principles and core values, post on website and listserv. Identify issues, write position paper.

Communication – Advocacy/Public Relations

(includes NPEN web support)

Identify or create documents and other forms of information that would be helpful when describing the field and its impact. Audiences for this work are legislatures, funders, other professionals and general audiences; users of this work are NPEN members and others in the field. (Advocacy Tool Kit)

Identify media events that suggest/invite a response from and about our field and relay better information to the sources.

(Not included: reviewing, recommending or facilitating development of NPEN position statements.)

Special Projects

1. Developing international contacts/collaboration
2. Annual meeting planning and collaboration with existing conferences

Financial Resource Development

Recruit, inform and consult with the panel on issues and history.

Evaluation

Evaluation of parenting education programs/curriculum.
